Tabling/ Student Groups:
On behalf of the International Association, I would like to invite your student organization to participate in tabling at Springternational 2013!

Each year, IA presents to you Springternational, a festival featuring more than 50 student cultural organizations and external vendors. Springternational showcases the cultural diversity of students on campus, with each grouppreparing culturally-diverse cuisines to share with the rest of the student body. Students can purchase paper coupons to exchange for food items especially prepared by each organization. Student groups can then receive the equivalent amount earned upon turning in the paper coupons to IA following the event, less an administrative fee charged by UCAE for the use of Food and Flex points.

Organizing large-scaled events like Springternational and FoodFest?
Spearheading truly global projects such as the International Ambassador Program?
Working on university-wide policies that directly impact the life of international students here at Duke?
Bringing in internationally-renowned speakers to Duke?

If any of your answers above is yes, you should consider joining the International Association Executive Board for the next academic year!

International Association is the premier cultural organization at Duke and represents students from over 89 different countries. We are the umbrella organization for all cultural groups on campus, and work with all groups in organizing and implementing social and policy initiatives that benefit students from all over the world.

We aim to broaden awareness of other cultures and foster friendships between diverse groups of students through a wide range of academic and social programming. IA is also the primary advocacy group for international students and works with the administration to make policy changes that will improve the international student experience.

Whether you are currently a member of IA, or someone who is interested in working on issues that promote international / cultural diversity, we encourage you to apply. You don’t need to be an international student to join!

Click here to read a description of each role that is open. The application form can be downloaded here. You may apply and interview for up to two (2) positions. Please submit your application by 11:59PM Tuesday, April 10th. We will have interviews on Saturday, April 14th, from 2pm - 5pm. All applicants must keep this time frame open.

Springternational postponed until Friday, April 13

Springternational has been postponed! Due to unfavourable weather forecasts, Springternational 2012 has been postponed until next Friday, April 13th. The event will run 12PM-6PM. So please join us next Friday for a day of cultural celebration, with food from student groups, food trucks, and other vendors, as well as multicultural performances and novelty acts! Don’t forget, free t-shirts for the first 500 students, and free beer for all students over 21!

Are you a subscriber to the Student Medical Insurance provided by Duke? If so, the workshop may be a great help for you. Understand everything about your health insurance, from coverage to procedure. What is the difference between this year’s policy and the plans in the past? How to file an insurance claim? What is covered by insurance and what is not? We will explain the answers in detail in this workshop brought to you by Duke Student Health Center and International Association. Also featuring free pizza in the event.
